The ISWA 2014 World Congress program is almost defined and it already relies on the presence of important figures of global scale on the sessions which are already set. All the "trending topics" of the sector will be discussed during its three days and concluded with focused technical visits on the fourth day.

The Opening Session is being set to warmly welcome all delegates to Brazil and to the ISWA 2014 Congress. The program will include technical and entertainment speeches and presentations and will be finished by a memorable interactive lecture, gave by Mr. Antonis Mavropoulos, chair of the ISWA Scientific and Technical Committee, with special participations from the audience. You are invited to co-create this lecture by pointing songs and musics that reminds you about friendship. Our Facebook and Twitter will be open to your suggestions.

Some special sessions have been confirmed during the technical program and will deal with hot themes in an innovative way. The audience will have active participation and will interact with the speakers during these sessions which will include topics such as:

  • Globalization and Waste Management: global markets, recycling, megacities and waste trafficking are among the issues in this session;
  • Resource Management: focusing on how to set the basis of a circular economy recovering what is now considered waste;
  • Young Professionals Group: three sessions under one theme "New Visions and innovations for Old Themes" specially prepared by the Young Professionals Group from ISWA (see more details below).

Details and News will be periodically posted on the Congress website.

Besides the program designed for the ISWA 2014 World Congress, this year's event will also host some simultaneous conferences, as the 2014 edition of the IPLA Global Forum.

IPLA, International Partnership for Expanding Waste Services through Local Authorities, is a program hosted by United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) that promotes its annual Global Forum dedicated to discuss possible solutions towards a zero waste society. All the registered participants will be able to follow the debates and presentations of the Forum.
