The ISWA-SWIS Winter School 2017 on Solid Waste Management: Landfill & Landfill Mining takes place in Arlington & City of Denton - Texas / USA from 16 - 27 January 2017. It is a two-week full-time course with 50% theory and 50% hands-on learning, organised by leading authorities on and managers of sustainable landfill sites from the University of Texas and the City of Denton.

Results: Winter School 2017 - Essay Competition

The Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability (SWIS) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Texas, USA is pleased to announce the “2017 ISWA-SWIS Competition on Sustainable Waste Management Essay” results. We would like to thank all the participants for their interest and participation in the essay competition. Most of you did an excellent job writing essays on many interesting topics.

This year, we have received many applications and essays from both students and solid waste professionals. Therefore, we have divided the scholarships into two categories and the funding levels are different for both categories:
(1) Student’s Scholarships and (2) Professional's Scholarship

After extensive review and consideration, we have finalized the list of candidates for the 2017 ISWA-SWIS Winter School Scholarship winners:
