Resourcing the future

City of OsloThis 6th Beacon Conference looks to a waste-free future: this is the aim behind the new EU Waste Policies and certainly the aspiration of ISWA – but how realistic is it? How can we in the waste management sector contribute now to Resourcing the Future. Join our hosts, the City of Oslo, as experts and practitioners present best practice models from Europe and South America and frame the challenges of measuring recycling and developing secondary resource markets.

You can expect inspiring case studies from Copenhagen’s Zero Waste drive, Ikea’s sustainability plans and Gothenburg’s Re-use efforts, as well as a critical eye of the realities and limits of a circular economy.

Confirmed Key Note speakers are Julie Hill of the Waste And Resource Action Programme, UK; Arthur ten Wolde of De Groene Zaak, the Netherlands; Markus Reuter of the Helmholz Institute, Germany as well as Björn Appelqvist, head of WGRWM, Denmark.

Watch our social media as we introduce these distinguished speakers and their fellow presenters over the next weeks. See the updated programme here.

For the evening event, something really special is planned, with a trip up to the hills to a traditional country lodge at Frognerseteren, to enjoy dinner on the terrace over-looking the city. The chef, Walter Kieliger, promises classic Norwegian dishes with contemporary interpretation, a fabulous ambiance and late-night sunset.
