UK DELEGATION GETS SNEAK PREVIEW OF ISWA 2015

On December 9th and 10th 2014, we welcomed a delegation of waste management experts from the UK for a sneak preview of September's congress. The representatives visited and were given a guided tour of the Hooge Maey landfill site. They also got to know some of the organizing partners: OVAM, VVSG Interafval, Fost Plus, ISVAG and the city of Antwerp. We hope to welcome a host of UK representatives in September!

CALL FOR PAPER FINALIZED

No less than 427 presentations were submitted during our call for abstracts, which ended January 10th. Thank you to all the professionals and academics who entered their abstracts! An important and time-consuming task now awaits the reviewers on our scientific committee: to read and judge all proposals and to choose which papers represent our congress' themes best. The selected speakers will be contacted personally over the next few weeks.

"THE IDEA OF CONSUMING LESS ISN'T APPEALING YET"

Maxine Peralla, our blogger of the month, questions the very fundamentals of why we consume, and whether treating waste as a resource is really serving the right purpose in that regard.

Maxine Perella is an award-winning journalist, environmental specializing in the zero waste and circular economy agenda. She tweets at @greendipped and her work can be viewed here.
