VIG - VERY IMPORTANT GUESTS

Policy makers and influencers from all over the world at ISWA 2015

The ISWA 2015 Congress will be organised only a few weeks before the 2015 General Assembly of the United Nations and a few months before the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP21 or CMP11 in Paris. Efficient waste and materials management is one of the simplest and most effective ways to rapidly and considerably reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore we are convinced that it is of utmost importance to use the momentum of our World Congress to better inform our world leaders about this issue.

We are proud and honored to announce that the following world leaders accepted our invitation and will be present at the World congress. Check out the program on our website for all the speakers and panelists.

CLIMATE AND CLEAN AIR COALITION (CACC)

Monday Sept. 7, 15h30 - 18h00

Parallel to the formal presentation of the Global Waste Management Outlook, 3 sessions will be organized that cover various aspects of the waste management industry.

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition: Sustainable waste management and impacts on climate change, will discuss the importance of sustainable waste management practices, and how these can achieve significant climate, economic and health benefits for communities.  It will also showcase a key forum for supporting city actions - the Climate and Clean Air Coalition's (CCAC) Municipal Solid Waste Initiative (MSWI).

LIFTING A TIP OF THE VEIL...

bottlesWe aim to make ISWA 2015 as sustainable as possible and we avoid producing waste during the congress as much as we can. Some examples: We're limiting the use of paper by only publishing an e-book for the full papers of the speakers, we're offering reusable drinking bottles (which the attendees get to keep!) and we're providing green transportation for the tech visits on Tuesday and Wednesday.

CAN OUR BLOGGERS INSPIRE YOU, TOO?

Closing session, Wednesday Sept. 9, 13h30 - 15h30

The past few months, influencers in the waste management sector were given the microphone by means of a blog post at the end of our newsletters. As we want to close ISWA 2015 in an inspiring way, we've invited each blogger to come and shed his or her view on the thoughts and presentations brought forward by the speakers of each session. Let the debate begin!

What were the congress' highlights according to Clarissa Morawski (Reloop)? Where does Ranjith Annepu see the biggest challenge for the future of the waste management sector?

To fresh up your memory, the bloggers panel: Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola (WeCyclers), Rob Buurman (Bond Beter Leefmilieu) and Zoë Lenkiewicz (next newsletter).
