It will be a pleasure to meet you at the second ISWA Beacon Conference in Germany. Beacon Conferences are designed to enlighten small, but important fields within waste management. Resource efficiency and climate protection are important challenges of the 21st Century. Many countries of the world have launched programs to regain resources and save energy leading to sustainable growth.

The Circular Economy Initiative of the new EU-Commission is the right step into this direction which should create more than 400.000 green jobs. But the first step to resource recovery is separate collection and sorting of waste streams.

Sorting and treatment techniques are the topics of this Beacon Conference, which is organised by the ISWA Natinal Member Germany, the VKU Förderverein on behalf of VKS.

We really appreciate this second Beacon Conference in Hamburg also as a signal of more scientific exchange between VKU and other ISWA members especially in Europe. To facilitate the active participation of many German practisioners we will offer simultaneous translation English to German.

To round off the conference programme we have planned two evening events:

A bus tour through the container port on 14th October and

Confrernce dinner on the museum ship Rickmer Rickmers on 15th October. There you will have the unique opportunity to network with the German leading experts joining from the German VKS Conference on Coastlands.
